Burlington, Vermont – In a stunning blow to the drug trade in Northern Vermont, Dakota McAllister, 25, of St. Johnsbury, has been charged with distributing and possessing fentanyl and cocaine base with intent to distribute.
McAllister was apprehended during a search warrant execution at a residence in Lyndon, Vermont, where he had been operating his drug operation. According to court records, McAllister conducted three separate transactions involving the sale of fentanyl and cocaine base to an informant between May and June 2024.
On June 27, 2024, law enforcement uncovered a cache of firearms and drugs at the Lyndon residence, including multiple handguns, an assault-style pistol, an assault rifle, and approximately 38 grams of suspected fentanyl and 55 grams of suspected cocaine. McAllister’s initial appearance is set for today at 3:30 p.m. before United States Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle.
United States Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest emphasized that the charges against McAllister are allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. If convicted, McAllister could face up to 20 years in prison.
The investigation into McAllister was conducted under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), a multi-agency approach aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations. This case also falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which seeks to reduce violent crime and gun violence across the nation.
McAllister is represented by Chandler Matson, Esq., while Assistant United States Attorney Andrew C. Gilman prosecutes the case. For more information on OCDETF and PSN, visit Justice.gov/OCDETF and Justice.gov/PSN respectively.
