A monster in plain sight: Matthew Kaufman, 45, of Lena, Illinois, used Snapchat to entice infants and toddlers into creating child porn over a decade-long reign of terror.
Kaufman, a registered sex offender since 2008, stored hundreds of videos and images of the abuse on his devices, violating his victims’ trust and exploiting their innocence.
The 150-year prison term, handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Iain D. Johnston, is a rare, yet necessary, measure to protect society from Kaufman’s depraved actions.
Kaufman must also pay $28,000 in restitution to his victims, a paltry sum compared to the trauma and suffering he inflicted.
