Quinnton Dawson, 35, of Louisville, is staring down at least 35 years in federal prison after a jury found him guilty on nine counts of exploiting a child. The verdict came last Thursday following a week-long trial. Dawson filmed himself engaging in sexual acts with a four-year-old girl, and also used his email to trade in horrific child abuse material. This wasn’t his first time – he was previously convicted of similar crimes.
Court records show Dawson was granted shock probation in Jefferson Circuit Court for possessing and distributing child pornography back in case number 20-CR-2017. He didn’t stay clean. He also picked up a second-degree robbery conviction in Jefferson Circuit Court (case number 22-CR-2095). Clearly, the system failed to protect anyone.
Federal prosecutors laid out the evidence, and the jury didn’t hesitate. U.S. Attorney Kyle Bumgarner didn’t mince words, calling Dawson’s actions “depravity” and a demonstration of “evil.” FBI Special Agent in Charge Olivia Olson emphasized Dawson was a repeat offender who “sought to profit off of her exploitation.”
Dawson is due back in court June 11, 2026, for sentencing. It’s a bleak outlook for the defendant, and a small measure of justice for a victim who will carry the scars of this abuse forever. The Louisville Metro Police Department worked alongside the FBI to build the case.
