CONCORD, NH – In a chilling tale of gun-for-hire thuggery, Anthony R. Farmer, 26, from Manchester, was sentenced to 198 months in federal prison for his role in an armed heist. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Hampshire announced the sentence on Thursday.
Farmer and two accomplices targeted a man seeking firearms, luring him under the false pretense of a black market deal. On August 21, 2017, they met at a Nashua residence, where they robbed the victim of his money for the gun purchase. The victim was actually a federal agent working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), who had been equipped with surveillance gear that captured the entire incident.
Farmer’s co-conspirators were also nabbed after the crime, found in possession of part of the stolen cash. Farmer pleaded guilty on August 20, 2018, to charges including conspiracy, robbery, assault, and using a firearm during a violent crime.
The court handed down significant sentences to the gangsters, with co-defendant Raymond Perez sentenced to 51 months and Aaron Sperow receiving 102 months. U.S. Attorney Scott W. Murray emphasized the severity of gun-related violence, stating that such offenses carry serious consequences and that Project Safe Neighborhoods will continue to fight gun crime in New Hampshire.
ATF Special Agent in Charge Kelly D. Brady echoed these sentiments, highlighting law enforcement’s commitment to community safety and the ongoing collaboration between agencies to combat violent gun crimes. The ATF investigation into this case was conducted alongside the Nashua Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Dronzek handling the prosecution.
Farmer’s conviction is part of ATF’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, a federal program aimed at reducing gun violence through enforcement and public outreach. This sentence sends a clear message that violent crime involving firearms will not be tolerated in New Hampshire.
