SPRINGFIELD, MO – A New York City man is staring down a long federal stretch after a jury slammed him with convictions on fentanyl and meth charges yesterday. Ahmaad Jarvis, 39, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute both drugs, plus possession with intent to distribute – a hefty haul for the feds.
The bust stemmed from a DEA wiretap investigation last October into a major drug pipeline. Cops overheard Jarvis, on the phone, plotting a run to Los Angeles to score narcotics and then haul them back to Springfield for street-level dealing.
On October 20th, investigators pulled over Jarvis as he drove from Kansas City towards Springfield. A search of his vehicle turned up a sickening amount: roughly 10 pounds of methamphetamine and 400 grams of pure fentanyl. That’s enough to kill thousands. Jarvis was the last holdout; thirteen of his co-conspirators already cut deals with the government.
The jury didn’t waste time. After hearing the evidence in U.S. District Court, they delivered a guilty verdict to Judge Roseann Ketchmark in under half an hour. Jarvis is looking at a minimum of 10 years, but could easily get life without parole. Sentencing is pending a pre-sentence report.
