Crime Wave Unleashed: Lancaster Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Drug Smuggling
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The grim shadow of the drug underworld has claimed another victim as Tymarious Nydarious Thompson, a 24-year-old from Lancaster County, has been handed a 15-year federal prison sentence.
Thompson was convicted of conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine, along with significant quantities of cocaine and marijuana. His criminal enterprise didn’t just stop there; authorities also uncovered evidence of counterfeit currency and weaponry in his possession.
The saga began when law enforcement discovered a stash of seven pounds of marijuana, a sawed-off shotgun, a handgun, ammunition, and wads of fake money at Thompson’s residence back in 2019. It was just the beginning of their fight against this drug kingpin.
But Thompson wasn’t done yet. During a subsequent raid in 2020, he was caught with over 198 grams of pure ice methamphetamine, marijuana, and crack cocaine, not to mention another firearm and a substantial cash hoard of more than $4,000. His defiance continued even after these massive seizures.
Despite the overwhelming evidence and numerous purchases of meth from him by undercover agents, Thompson still attempted to peddle his deadly wares. United States District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis was left with no choice but to sentence this criminal to 180 months imprisonment, followed by a five-year term of supervised release.
This case was an intensive effort that spanned multiple agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster Police Department, and the York County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon led the prosecution.
Thompson’s sentence serves as a stark reminder of the relentless pursuit of justice in the face of drug trafficking networks that threaten communities across South Carolina.
