A 21-year-old Bridgeville man is facing life in prison after federal authorities say he was caught with fentanyl and a prohibited firearm. Lamir Faison, a convicted felon, allegedly possessed a large quantity of the deadly opioid and an AR-15-style rifle. He’s accused of intending to distribute the fentanyl.
The feds say Faison’s gun possession is a no-go due to his prior felony conviction. He’s facing one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, one count of possessing a firearm by a prohibited person, and one count of using a firearm to further drug trafficking. The investigation was a team effort between the ATF, Delaware State Police, and Delaware State Department of Probation and Parole.
Faison appeared in court for an initial appearance on April 16. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin P. Pierce is handling the case. The indictment was returned on April 7.
The charges are just accusations, and Faison is presumed innocent until proven guilty. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. A federal judge will determine the actual sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
