A Bristol, Virginia man doped up the Western District with over 600 fentanyl pills last fall. Briar Stephens, 25, conspired with others to distribute the deadly pills between September and October 2024.
Stephens and his co-conspirator, Bobby Arnett, bought fentanyl pills to distribute in Washington County, Virginia, and elsewhere. On October 16, 2024, Stephens was caught with the pills and a loaded handgun in his waistband.
A coalition of law enforcement agencies, including the DEA, Elizabethton Police Department, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.
Stephens pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute fentanyl and using a firearm in furtherance of the crime. He was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
