⏱ 2 min read

Juan Edgardo Negrón-Navarro, a 28-year-old from Jayuya, Puerto Rico, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for exploiting two female minors and producing sexually explicit images of them. The crimes occurred between April 2023 and November 2024, with Negrón-Navarro using coercion and persuasion to exploit the minors, aged 15-16 and 17. He also threatened to kill an adult female if she didn’t send him explicit images. The FBI and Puerto Rico Police Bureau investigated the case, which was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood.

The investigation revealed that Negrón-Navarro employed, used, persuaded, induced, enticed, and coerced the minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct, producing visual depictions of such conduct. He was indicted on June 26, 2025, arrested on July 2, 2025, and pleaded guilty on December 5, 2025.

The sentence, handed down by United States District Court Judge Gina Méndez-Miró on May 4, 2026, includes 20 years of supervised release. The case was prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Emelina Agrait-Barreto of the Child Exploitation and Immigration Unit.

The FBI and the DOJ have been working to combat child exploitation through Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006. The program aims to prevent and investigate child sexual exploitation and abuse.
