PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Heyder Molina Prieto, a 38-year-old Colombian national, pleaded guilty to illegal reentry of a removed alien and was sentenced to time served on her conviction, according to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.
United States District Judge Cathy Bissoon imposed the sentence. The Court heard that on November 7, 2024, Prieto faced charges for access device fraud and theft-related crimes committed on October 22, 2024, by both the Monroeville Police Department and the Upper St. Clair Police Department.
Following her arrest for these offenses, immigration authorities discovered that Prieto was in the U.S. illegally, having been previously removed from the country in June 2020 and again in March 2022. Since her November 2024 arrest, she has remained in custody and is now set to be returned to immigration custody for departure from the United States.
Assistant United States Attorney Rebecca L. Silinski handled the prosecution on behalf of the government. Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti expressed his commendation for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, along with the Monroeville and Upper St. Clair police departments, for their roles in the successful investigation that led to Prieto’s conviction.
This case is a part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and protecting communities from criminals involved in violent crime. The operation seeks to eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations across the nation.
