Colorado Man Sentenced for Stealing Credit Card

A Colorado Springs man has been sentenced for his role in stealing a credit card and making unauthorized withdrawals at Ellsworth Air Force Base.

Scott Stewart, 19, was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay $332 in restitution and $25 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

The charge against Stewart stems from an incident on September 9, 2012, in which he stole the credit card of another person and made withdrawals.

Stewart was indicted on November 19, 2012, by a federal grand jury and subsequently pleaded guilty to the charge on March 28, 2013.

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on May 30, 2013.

The investigation into the case was led by the U.S. Air Force, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Wayne Venhuizen prosecuting the case.

Stewart’s sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense and the need for him to make amends for his actions.
