A 34-year-old Missouri man’s sickening lust for a 13-year-old girl landed him a 14-year stint behind bars. Nathaniel Rod Gibson exploited the teen with a barrage of romantic texts, culminating in a twisted trip to an Arkansas campground where he committed a heinous sex act.

Between March 10 and September 6, 2023, Gibson sent the victim over 18,996 text messages. He even told her to delete the messages to avoid getting caught.

But his twisted game was up when he took the victim to his home in Crawford County and committed another sex act. His crimes spanned multiple states, netting him a federal indictment.

Gibson copped a plea deal in January, admitting to charges of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sex and coercion and enticement of a minor. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Diamond City Police, and FBI led the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Anderson handling the case.

Gibson’s case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide effort to combat child sex abuse and exploitation.
