Four men in Oklahoma are facing federal charges for crimes including gun possession and reentering the US illegally. Adrian Barrera Quiroz, a 42-year-old Mexican national, is accused of unlawfully reentering the country after being removed twice in 2007 and three times in 2016. Meanwhile, Levante Ladaniel Brewer, Jaleen Larenz Brown, and David Wayne Burks Jr. are charged with various gun crimes, including possessing firearms as felons and receiving firearms while under indictment.
The charges were announced by US Attorney Clint Johnson, following an August federal grand jury. The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorneys Augustus Forster, John Brasher, and John W. Dowdell. Agencies involved in the investigations include the FBI, ATF, and local police departments.
The specifics of the charges include Barrera Quiroz’s alleged unlawful reentry, which is a federal offense. Brewer, 34, is accused of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon, while Brown, 25, is charged with receiving a firearm while under indictment for illegally possessing a machinegun. Burks, 37, is accused of possessing a firearm as a felon.
The outcomes of these cases will depend on the prosecutions and any potential trials. For now, the indictments mark a significant step in the federal law enforcement efforts to address gun crimes and immigration offenses in Oklahoma.
