De’Marionne Zaquann Miller, a 22-year-old from Lexington County, was involved in a domestic violence incident on June 14, 2025, which led to the discovery of his illicit activities. When deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene, Miller fled with an AK-style rifle and a backpack. After his arrest, a search of the area and his apartment revealed a large quantity of marijuana, cash, and ammunition.
Miller’s priors, including convictions for escape and unlawful carrying of a pistol, prohibited him from possessing firearms or ammunition. The investigation, led by the FBI Columbia Field Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, uncovered evidence of Miller’s drug trafficking activities.
The seized evidence included numerous individual bags of marijuana, a digital drug scale, and two cellphones. Miller pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing the firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
United States District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie sentenced Miller to 111 months in federal prison, followed by a three-year term of court-ordered supervision. With no parole in the federal system, Miller will serve his full sentence.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William K. Witherspoon. The sentence reflects the serious nature of Miller’s crimes and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and gun violence in South Carolina.
