Steven Estrada Feregrino, a man from Fayette County, Georgia, and his wife, an illegal alien, are facing years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple felony offenses related to firearms and lying to an immigration judge. The charges stem from an incident on August 8, 2025, when Estrada Feregrino paid a woman $4,600 to purchase seven firearms from a gun store in Fayetteville, Georgia, with the intention of smuggling them into Mexico.
The woman falsely represented herself as the buyer of the firearms, which is a federal offense. Furthermore, Estrada Feregrino’s wife unlawfully possessed a firearm at a Fayette County gun range, which is prohibited for illegal aliens. The couple’s deceitful conduct was uncovered through a partnership between the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Atlanta Homeland Security Task Force.
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg stated that the couple’s actions demonstrated contempt for the law, but they could not escape its reach. The investigation was a collaborative effort between multiple agencies, including the ATF and the Bureau of Industry and Security, which prioritize preventing unlawful exports and disrupting illicit gun trafficking networks.
The conviction is a significant outcome for law enforcement, as it highlights the importance of cooperation between agencies in combating gun trafficking and holding those who engage in such activities accountable. Estrada Feregrino and his wife now face years in prison for their crimes, serving as a warning to others who would attempt to engage in similar illicit activities.
