Davenport Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking
A Davenport man was sentenced on April 7, 2026, to 10 years in federal prison for possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
James T. Smith, 35, of Davenport, Iowa, pleaded guilty to the crime, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Northern District of Iowa.
The investigation into Smith’s activities was conducted by the Iowa DCI and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Smith’s sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge C.J. Williams. He will serve his time at a federal correctional institution to be determined by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The charges against Smith were brought as part of a larger effort to combat methamphetamine trafficking in the region.
