Asheville Man Sentenced to 13 Years in Federal Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – In a harsh blow to the Aryan Brotherhood, a white supremacist gang with ties to Asheville, a local avowed member was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. Jonathan Ray Adams, 34, of Asheville, was sentenced to 163 months in prison and five years under court supervision after his release.
According to court documents, Adams and his co-defendant, Linda Suzanne Higgins, were avowed members of the Aryan Brotherhood. The pair trafficked methamphetamine from January 2019 to May 2019, obtaining the illicit substance from a source in the Atlanta, Georgia area. They transported the methamphetamine back to Western North Carolina, redistributing it to local drug networks in Henderson and Buncombe Counties, including other members of the Aryan Brotherhood.
During the investigation, federal and local law enforcement working together seized a portion of a 38-ounce shipment of methamphetamine in Buncombe County and a portion of a 10-ounce shipment of methamphetamine in Henderson County.
Adams and Higgins previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Higgins is currently awaiting sentencing.
U.S. Attorney Andrew Murray commended the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Black Mountain Police Department, HSI’s Henderson County Office, and the DEA’s Asheville Post of Duty for their cooperation and coordination throughout the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Kent of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Asheville prosecuted the case. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Martin Reidinger.
The investigation was a collaborative effort between federal and local law enforcement agencies, demonstrating the commitment to dismantling white supremacist gangs and disrupting their illicit activities.
