SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — In a dramatic turn of events, Andrew M. Reed, 22, from Joplin, Mo., stands accused in federal court for possession of a firearm following a shooting incident in the heart of Joplin. The charges come after police recovered a firearm and ammunition at the scene on February 15, 2025.
According to documents, officers responded to reports of gunshots fired in the area of 5th and Joplin Avenue, where they discovered spent cartridge casings and the firearm, which had been hidden by Reed. The magazine contained rounds matching the casings found at the scene. Surveillance footage provided crucial evidence linking Reed to the crime.
Reed’s past is no stranger to legal troubles. He has prior felony convictions, making him prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law. This prohibition makes his actions on that fateful day in February a clear violation of federal statutes.
