La D. Huynh, Narcotics Conspiracy, New York 2023

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A California man has been sentenced to 10+ years in prison for his role in a cross-country narcotics conspiracy, according to the U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

La D. Huynh, 43, of Chula Vista, California, was sentenced to serve 126 months in prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Huynh, a California-based drug trafficker, supplied quantities of methamphetamine, heroin/fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana to other members of the conspiracy, including Jun Martinez, a Jamestown-based drug trafficker.

In 2019, after receiving a large amount of methamphetamine, there was a payment issue between Martinez and Huynh, and Martinez stopped taking calls from Huynh. Sometime in 2020, Huynh and Martinez started their narcotics operations again, and Huynh began shipping quantities of cocaine, heroin/fentanyl, and methamphetamine in the mail, from the San Diego, California, area.

On September 15, 2020, Martinez and his co-conspirator Kevin Hughes were arrested by Illinois State Police Trooper after a traffic stop yielded approximately 6,359 grams of methamphetamine, 3,157 grams of fentanyl, 2,241 grams of cocaine, and marijuana products.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Scott Forster, the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Farhana Islam, New York Field Division, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff James Quattrone.
