LSD Dealer Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison
NORFOLK, Va. – Taylor Beale, a 23-year-old Franklin man, has been sentenced to 76 months in prison for his role in a lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) distribution ring.
According to court documents, Beale sold LSD to an undercover Franklin Police detective on three occasions in September 2016. The deals were part of a larger investigation into Beale’s LSD trafficking operation.
On one of the occasions, Beale brought a handgun to the meeting, displaying it to the undercover detective. This brazen display of power was just one of the many incidents that would land Beale in hot water.
On a fourth occasion, Beale was stopped by Virginia State Police Meherrin Drug Task Force Officers and found to be in possession of twenty dosage units of LSD and a handgun. When questioned, Beale admitted to a string of crimes, including a previous robbery of another LSD dealer at gunpoint.
U.S. District Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen handed down the 76-month sentence, which will see Beale spend the next six and a half years behind bars. In addition to the prison time, Beale will also forfeit his car and two handguns, which were used in the commission of his crimes.
U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Dana J. Boente praised the work of law enforcement agencies involved in the case, saying, ‘This sentence is a testament to the tireless efforts of our law enforcement partners in taking down this LSD trafficking operation.’
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Hudson prosecuted the case, bringing Beale to justice for his role in the LSD distribution ring.
The Franklin Police Department, Virginia State Police, and ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations were all involved in the investigation and prosecution of Beale.
