Las Vegas, NV – Marlo Alejandro Valdovinos-Guerra, a man with five previous deportations to his name, found himself in court today facing charges of illegal reentry into the United States. The 32-year-old Mexican national is accused of slipping back across the border within a month of his most recent deportation.
Valdovinos-Guerra’s legal troubles began in earnest on December 15, 2012, when he was first removed from the country. Since then, he has been deported four more times, with his latest expulsion occurring on December 2, 2024. His return to the U.S. this time is no trivial matter, as it marks his illegal reentry for the fifth time.
The defendant’s criminal history includes a conviction in 2024 for inflict corporal injury on spouse, cohabitant, followed by a two-year custody sentence. In 2025, he pleaded guilty to attempt malicious destruction of property after discharging a firearm at a nightclub.
If convicted, Valdovinos-Guerra could face the maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison, a three-year term of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment. His jury trial is set for September 8, 2025, before United States District Judge Cristina D. Silva.
The investigation into Valdovinos-Guerra was handled by the ICE Salt Lake City, Las Vegas Sub-Office, with the case being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Sigal Chattah and Salt Lake City Field Office Director Jason Knight.
