Richard James Miller, Production of Child Pornography, Missouri 2024

⏱ 3 min read

A 41-year-old monster from St. Francois County, Missouri, was caught recording the abuse of two underage girls, one as young as 8. Richard James Miller lured them into his apartment with promises of photoshoots, then threatened to kill their relatives if they spoke out. Investigators found hundreds of images of his abuse on his phone.

Miller’s world came crashing down in 2024, when Homeland Security Investigations sniffed out his chat logs with a New Jersey man. Court-approved searches turned up a treasure trove of evidence, including images of child sex abuse material.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Bateman called Miller a ‘repeat offender’ who wouldn’t stop until he was caught. Judge Matthew T. Schelp agreed, handing down a 50-year sentence.

The two victims, now freed from Miller’s grasp, spoke out against him in court. One described the terror of being forced to watch as Miller killed her dogs. The other recounted the trauma of being threatened, manipulated, and abused by a master predator.

Miller pleaded guilty to two counts of production of child pornography in February. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sex abuse.
