OKLAHOMA CITY – Antjuan Lamont Gaines, 47, of Oklahoma City, was handed a 162-month federal prison sentence for illegal firearm and meth possession following a motel shooting incident.
Gaines came under fire on June 12, 2024, when he opened fire at a woman attempting to leave the scene in her car. The police tracked him down and discovered over 140 grams of meth and a gun in his room.
This isn’t Gaines’ first brush with the law. His record includes convictions for vehicle theft, assaulting an officer, and drug possession. On September 17, 2024, he was charged federally with intent to distribute meth and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty on January 8, 2025.
Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti sentenced Gaines to serve 162 months behind bars followed by three years of supervised release. The case resulted from an FBI and Oklahoma City Police Department investigation, with Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Laney Ellis leading the prosecution.
This case is part of Operation Shots Fired, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at reducing gun violence and enforcing federal firearms laws in the Western District of Oklahoma.
