PORTLAND, Ore.—Elizabeth Leslie, a 32-year-old woman from Portland, faced federal charges yesterday after an alleged assault on a federal officer near the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in South Portland.
The charge, brought by criminal complaint, accuses Leslie of assaulting a federal officer as they tried to clear a path for vehicles leaving the ICE facility. The incident occurred on October 18, 2025, when Leslie is said to have lunged forward, striking an officer in the chest.
This development comes amidst a series of federal charges filed since June 13, 2025, against 35 defendants who are accused of committing offenses at the ICE building. These include assaulting federal officers, failure to comply, and depredation of government property.
Leslie appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in federal court yesterday and was released on conditions pending further proceedings. If convicted, she could face up to eight years in federal prison for the felony offense of assaulting a federal officer.
