Sammy Monroe Ebarb, a 41-year-old resident of Longtown, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. Ebarb’s troubles began in 2003 when he was convicted of first-degree rape in Latimer County, Oklahoma. As a result, he was required to register as a sex offender, but from November 2024 to February 2025, he failed to do so, sparking an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force and the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Ebarb pleaded guilty to the charge on October 8, 2025, and was sentenced by the Honorable Ronald A. White, Senior Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. He will now serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration in a federal prison.
The case highlights the importance of sex offender registration and the consequences of failing to comply with the law. Ebarb’s failure to register put the community at risk, and his sentence serves as a warning to others who might consider avoiding their registration requirements.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Morgan Muzljakovich represented the United States in the case, which was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office. Ebarb will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending transportation to a designated federal prison facility.
