South Portland Man Sentenced to 16½ Years for Sexually Exploiting a Minor
A South Portland man has been sentenced to 16½ years in prison for sexually exploiting a minor, US Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced today.
29-year-old Wayne Niski was sentenced by Judge Jon D. Levy in U.S. District Court after pleading guilty to the charge on September 10, 2015.
According to court records, in 2013, Niski took several sexually explicit photographs of an eight-year-old girl. The images were later found on a USB flash drive at Niski’s residence in South Portland during a search warrant executed in March 2015.
The investigation was conducted by the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
Niski will also serve 10 years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence. US Attorney Delahanty II emphasized the severity of the crime and the importance of protecting children from exploitation.
Contact US Attorney’s Office spokesperson Craig M. Wolff at (207) 780-3257 for more information.
The case is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of child exploitation and the need for continued vigilance in protecting our children.
