Sean Krasin, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Massachusetts 2025

BOSTON – A grim reminder of the city’s violent past unfolded as Sean Krasin, a convicted felon from Springfield, Mass., was handed an 80-month prison sentence for his illegal possession of a firearm. The 31-year-old faced justice on July 3, 2025, in federal court in Springfield.

The harsh penalty came after Krasin pleaded guilty to being a previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. His crime spree reached its peak when he attempted to flee arrest by leaping from the second floor of Holyoke Mall’s parking garage, leading police on a harrowing chase through dense woods.

At the time of his offense, Krasin was already under supervised release for a federal heroin trafficking conviction. The 2018 crime out of Springfield federal court landed him a five-year sentence behind bars.

Judge Mark Mastroianni of the United States District Court delivered the verdict, sentencing Krasin to serve 80 months before being placed on three years of supervised release. This comes as a significant victory for law enforcement agencies involved in the case.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Scott Riordan, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms in New England; Colonel Geoffrey Nobel of the Massachusetts State Police; and Brian Keenan, Chief of the Holyoke Police Department, made the announcement that sent a strong message against gun crime.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse of the Springfield Branch Office, who tirelessly worked to bring justice to this heinous act.
