Benjamin Hernandez Torres, Child Rape, Washington 2023

WASHINGTON – Benjamin Hernandez Torres has been found guilty of five counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of second-degree child sexual abuse, with aggravating circumstances. The conviction, announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), followed a trial in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on July 1, 2025.

According to the evidence and testimony presented during the trial, Torres, who was the victim’s mother’s boyfriend between 2010 and 2014, raped the child multiple times when she was between 5 and 8 years old. The trauma came to light around a decade later when the victim saw a photo of Torres at her house years after the abuse.

The jury’s decision comes with a severe penalty, as Torres faces life without parole on the first-degree child sexual abuse counts and fifteen years each for the second-degree counts. Should he ever be released, Torres will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

This harrowing case was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Raha Mokhtari and Sarah Roessler leading the prosecution.

The Honorable Danya Dayson has scheduled sentencing for September 26, 2025. The justice system has delivered a verdict that promises to bring closure to the victim and her family after years of suffering at the hands of this despicable criminal.
