JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A chilling case of attempted child pornography production has gripped Columbia as Daniel P. Meenehan, 64, a TSA employee, faces federal charges.
The investigation was launched after HSI agents in St. Louis were alerted about a minor sending nude photos to an adult for money. They discovered Meenehan had engaged in over 41 transactions with minors over a year’s time.
Meenehan appeared in Federal Court today, charged by complaint with attempted production of child pornography on July 24, 2025.
The charges against him are merely accusations and no evidence has been presented to a federal jury yet. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in federal prison without parole.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ashley Turner is handling the case, which was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and the Miller County Sheriff’s Office.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation. For more information on internet safety education, visit www.usdoj.gov/psc.
