Blue Springs Man Charged with Illegal Possession of Ammunition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a shocking turn of events, a Blue Springs, Mo., man has been indicted by a federal grand jury on July 15, 2025, for illegally possessing ammunition.

William Anthony Chaney, 38, was charged with being a felon in possession of ammunition after previously being convicted in federal court in the Western District of Missouri for conspiracy to distribute PCP and conspiracy to commit money laundering in 2016.

The indictment specifically alleges that, on or about May 24, 2025, Chaney illegally possessed ammunition that had previously travelled in interstate commerce, knowing that he was a prior felon.

Chaney was on federal supervised release for his prior conviction at the time he was discovered in possession of the ammunition.

The charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth W. Borgnino. It was investigated by the Blue Springs Missouri Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).
