A 31-year-old Cleburne County man, Magnus Clark, has been sentenced to 36 years in prison for his involvement in heinous crimes against children. Between November 2023 and June 2024, Clark uploaded and shared child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on social media platforms Snapchat and Kik. The crimes were committed in Heflin, Alabama, where Clark resided.
Clark’s illicit activities were uncovered during a federal search warrant executed at his residence in June 2024. He admitted to federal agents that he viewed and traded CSAM videos and images with others using various file-sharing applications. A forensic analysis of his devices revealed a staggering collection of over 1,000 videos and 761 images of CSAM.
The investigation was led by the FBI Birmingham’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, in collaboration with the ALEA SBI and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney R. Leann White prosecuted the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Clark pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography in January. As a result of his convictions, he will be required to register as a sex offender in accordance with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). U.S. District Judge Corey L. Maze sentenced Clark to 432 months in prison, followed by a life term of supervised release.
