A gruesome daylight bank robbery in Berea, Kentucky, left two people dead. Brailen Weaver, 30, stormed into the US Bank on April 30, 2026, at 1:57 p.m. and opened fire on bank employees.
Weaver, hooded and wearing a black mask, killed a bank employee and a teller before ransacking the bank and fleeing. Investigators quickly identified Weaver as the prime suspect and tracked him down to his vehicle, which they attempted to stop.
Weaver took off in a high-speed chase, reaching over 100 miles per hour before crashing and fleeing on foot. Law enforcement finally apprehended Weaver around 3 a.m. this morning.
Weaver now faces federal charges for armed bank robbery, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, and causing death with a firearm in the course of the crime of violence.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel condemned the senseless violence, vowing to bring Weaver to justice.
