A brazen daylight shooting at a Berea bank left one dead and another injured, sending shockwaves through the small Kentucky town. The heist unfolded on April 15, 2026, at approximately 10:45 a.m. at the First National Bank on Main Street.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Jeremy Lee, stormed into the bank, brandishing a handgun and demanding cash from the tellers. During the chaos, a bank employee was fatally shot and another was wounded.
The swift response from local law enforcement, assisted by federal agencies including the FBI, resulted in Lee’s capture just hours after the crime. He was taken into custody without incident in a nearby motel room.
A federal grand jury has since indicted Lee on charges of bank robbery resulting in death and use of a firearm to commit a crime of violence.
