A Lane County Sheriff’s Deputy, Dylan Ford, 29, has been charged with child exploitation offenses, including actual and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, enticement of a minor, and receipt of child sexual abuse material. The crimes allegedly occurred in Lane County, Oregon, where Ford exchanged sexually explicit chats, images, and videos with multiple children under the age of 16 using encrypted chat platforms and disappearing photo apps. Ford was arrested on July 28, 2026, by the FBI and made his first appearance in federal court, where he was ordered detained pending further proceedings.
According to court documents, Ford used Telegram and other apps to initiate conversations with self-described minors, which developed into sexual exchanges. He allegedly enticed the children into sending him custom child sexual abuse material, including instructing specific sexual acts involving household items. Investigators found numerous conversations on Ford’s phone, as well as a video depicting a distressed minor carrying out sexual acts.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office after becoming aware of Ford’s alleged activities, and the FBI was subsequently contacted to collaborate on the investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Will McLaren.
