A convicted felon, Brandon Bernard Williams, 41, of Palmetto, was caught with ammunition on March 5, 2026, in a brazen move that landed him in hot water. Williams, under federal supervised release, is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.
The charges come as part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat violent crime, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations.
According to the indictment, Williams had multiple felony offenses on his plate, including a prior firearms offense. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) teamed up to investigate the case.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeff Chang is leading the prosecution. If convicted, Williams faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison.
