Kenneth Mark Rosado, a 40-year-old Charlotte man, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for selling guns and fentanyl that led to the overdose death of a 21-year-old Cary man. Between 2023 and 2024, Rosado sold 57 guns to criminals and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The fatal episode occurred in January 2025 when Rosado sold fentanyl to the victim, who later died in his bedroom.
Rosado’s crimes didn’t stop even after the victim’s death. He continued selling drugs without remorse and was caught by undercover officers in a controlled purchase of fentanyl. During the purchase, Rosado admitted to acquiring dealer-level quantities of the drug regularly.
The case was investigated by the Cary Police Department and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina. U.S. Attorney Ellis Boyle stated that the arrest and prosecution of Rosado should give people in Eastern North Carolina a sense of relief, emphasizing that those who push poison and guns into communities will face severe consequences.
Rosado’s sentencing serves as a warning to those involved in similar crimes. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and law enforcement agencies are committed to combating drug and gun trafficking in North Carolina, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
