A convicted felon in Washington DC has been sentenced to 87 months in prison for trafficking at least nine firearms to a prohibited buyer, who bragged about being ‘at war’.
Brandon Smith, 34, was already on supervised probation for a violent felony when he started selling guns to a buyer who couldn’t legally possess them.
Over six months, Smith arranged the sale of at least nine guns, including one with an obliterated serial number, to the buyer, who told him he needed the firearms for a violent conflict.
Smith continued to sell the guns despite being told the buyer intended to use them for violence.
The ATF investigation found that Smith was actively advertising firearms for sale, texting photos of guns to prospective buyers, including those with prior felony convictions.
