Omaha Man Sentenced for Distribution Amounts of Methamphetamine

In a major blow to the city’s narcotics trade, Matthew Frederick Strohl, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 150 months’ imprisonment for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The harsh sentence was handed down on February 28, 2024 in federal court in Omaha by United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher.

This is not the first time Strohl has faced the consequences of his actions. In 2009, he was sentenced in an Omaha federal court to 120 months for drug and firearm charges. Despite this prior conviction, Strohl continued to engage in narcotics trafficking, putting the community at risk.

The investigation into Strohl’s activities began on April 22, 2022, when the Omaha Police Department stopped him for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers discovered a meth pipe and small amounts of narcotics in his possession. Believing that Strohl may have more narcotics stored in his apartment, located in Sarpy County, the officers sought assistance from the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office. A search of the apartment revealed a staggering array of narcotics, including:

  • 69 grams of methamphetamine
  • Hydrocodone
  • Adderall
  • Xanax
  • Cocaine
  • Psychedelic mushrooms

With this wealth of evidence, prosecutors were able to build a strong case against Strohl, ultimately securing the 150-month sentence. Following his release from prison, Strohl will begin a 5-year term of supervised release.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of narcotics trafficking and the consequences that await those who engage in such activities. The Omaha Police Department and Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office are to be commended for their tireless efforts in keeping the community safe.
