David Allen Bentley Jr, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Alabama 2025

⏱ 2 min read

On January 1, 2025, David Allen Bentley Jr, a 50-year-old Calhoun County man, was pulled over by Anniston police for a routine traffic stop, but he didn’t stop. Instead, he led officers on a chase, which ended with his arrest for attempting to elude. What officers found in his car would lead to a much more serious charge: approximately 145 grams of 100% pure methamphetamine.

Bentley, a seven-time convicted felon, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in January. U.S. District Judge Corey L. Maze sentenced him to 210 months in prison.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Anniston Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison J. Garnett.

Bentley’s sentence is a significant blow to methamphetamine trafficking in the Anniston area. The DEA and local law enforcement will continue to work together to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations in the region.
