A 25-year-old Ohio man is facing the music for his role in a deadly fentanyl pill trafficking conspiracy that funneled poison from Arizona to the Youngstown area. Alijaha Scott pleaded guilty to conspiracy and racketeering charges, admitting to shipping fentanyl pills from Arizona to Ohio between April 2022 and 2024.
According to court documents, Scott’s operation was a slick one. He’d fly to Arizona, grab a shipment of fentanyl pills, and then fly back to Ohio, where he’d distribute the poison to customers. But law enforcement was hot on his trail, and on August 2, 2023, they caught up with him on Interstate 80.
Inside Scott’s suitcase, police found a vacuum-sealing machine – a telltale sign of a bulk drug smuggler. And on his phone, they found incriminating texts to another co-conspirator about fentanyl pills.
Scott is set to be sentenced on August 4, but it’s likely he’ll face a lengthy prison term. The case is part of a larger Homeland Security Task Force initiative to take down transnational crime rings and human smuggling operations.
