Robert Vernon Hardage, Jr., Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Oklahoma 2024

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Robert Vernon Hardage, Jr., a 46-year-old resident of Kenefic, Oklahoma, has entered a guilty plea to the serious charge of Felon in Possession of Ammunition, according to a statement from the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Hardage stands accused of knowingly possessing one round of 12-gauge ammunition and 17 rounds of .300 Blackout caliber ammunition on March 11, 2024. This is a clear violation, especially considering his prior criminal record that includes convictions punishable by more than one year imprisonment.

The charge stems from an extensive investigation involving the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF has been particularly active in cracking down on illegal firearm possession across the state.

Judge D. Edward Snow of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has accepted Hardage’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed. The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge, taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant statutory factors.

Hardage remains in the custody of the United States Marshals Service until his sentencing date. Assistant U.S. Attorney T. Cameron McEwen and Dak T. Cohen represented the United States during the proceedings.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who continue to flout the law despite prior convictions. The justice system will not tolerate illegal firearm possession, and those found guilty will face significant penalties.
