A 66-year-old Springfield, Missouri man, John Michael Bradley, has been sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for the aggravated sexual abuse of a minor under 12. The abuse occurred between 2005 and 2008, while Bradley was an active-duty member of the US Army in Honduras and later as a civilian. Bradley pleaded guilty to all four counts of a federal indictment in May 2025, after the first witness testified on the first day of his jury trial.
Bradley’s crimes involved sexually abusing a minor, who was just four years old when the abuse started, on numerous occasions over three years. After his active-duty tour in Honduras ended in 2006, Bradley returned to the country with the intent to continue engaging in sexual acts with the child. The minor victim, now an adult, reported the crimes to the US Army Criminal Investigations Division in 2021.
Bradley has a previous federal conviction in 2019 for possession of child pornography in the Western District of Missouri. This case was prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney David Luna and investigated by US Homeland Security Investigations, the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force, and the US Army Criminal Investigations Division.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Bradley will serve his 35-year sentence without parole, followed by 10 years of supervised release.
