A 24-year-old South Georgia resident has been dropped for trying to strong-arm an Ohio teenager into sending him explicit images over Snapchat.
Cenobio Olguin Jr. of Lenox, Georgia, pleaded guilty to attempting to produce child pornography in January after a Snapchat encounter with a 16-year-old girl from Ohio.
Prosecutors say Olguin Jr. requested the teen send him naked snaps, which she did, before blocking him. He then contacted her months later, sending her the photos she’d previously shared.
Olguin Jr. was sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, and will have to register as a sex offender for life.
Feds say the case highlights the need for parents and caregivers to educate kids on online safety and encourage them to report suspicious behavior.
