Florida Man Remy Ra St. Felix Gets 6+ Years For Jailhouse Beatdown
GREENSBORO, NC – Remy Ra St. Felix, 25, of West Palm Beach, Florida, is facing even more time behind bars after being sentenced to six years and ten months in prison for brutally assaulting a witness who testified against him in a cryptocurrency theft case. The attack occurred while both were in custody at a detention center in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is being condemned as a direct attack on the justice system.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) detailed how St. Felix, already facing a 47-year sentence for his role in a series of home invasion robberies aimed at stealing cryptocurrency, physically attacked “Witness-1” on October 8, 2024. The witness, already restrained with leg shackles, a belly chain, and handcuffs in the detention center’s “booking area,” was repeatedly punched in the face, head, and body by St. Felix. Sources say St. Felix verbally berated the witness, calling him a “rat” and blaming him for the lengthy sentence he received.
“Instead of accepting responsibility for his criminal conduct that resulted in a 47-year sentence, St Felix physically attacked and berated a trial witness,” stated Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti of the DOJ’s Criminal Division. “Witness retaliation threatens the very foundation of our justice system, which relies on truthful witness testimony. We will aggressively prosecute any attempt to retaliate against federal witnesses.” U.S. Attorney Clifton T. Barrett for the Middle District of North Carolina echoed that sentiment, stating, “Retaliation against witnesses…will not be tolerated.”
Court documents reveal St. Felix was briefly allowed out of a holding cell, providing him the opportunity to reach Witness-1. Following the assault, investigators say St. Felix bragged about the attack to his mother and girlfriend. The initial charges against St. Felix stemmed from a nine-count superseding indictment related to the cryptocurrency theft scheme. He was found guilty on all counts at trial before receiving the 47-year sentence. This new sentence adds 36 months to run concurrently with his existing term, and a further 46 months consecutively, meaning St. Felix will likely be well into his 70s before potential release.
FBI officials highlighted the severity of St. Felix’s actions. Assistant Director Jose A. Perez of the FBI Criminal Investigative Division emphasized, “St Felix tried to silence the very process that held him accountable.” Special Agent in Charge James C. Barnacle Jr. of the FBI Charlotte Field Office was even more blunt, stating St. Felix “cowardly” blamed another for his crimes and that the sentence offers “some sense of justice” to the victims, acknowledging they will likely never fully recover. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Trial Attorney Brian Mund of the DOJ’s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS) and Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Iverson.
CCIPS, known for its aggressive pursuit of cybercriminals, has secured over 180 convictions since 2020. This case underscores the agency’s commitment to protecting the integrity of the judicial process, even within the walls of correctional facilities. The sentencing of St. Felix sends a clear message: interfering with justice, through intimidation or violence, will be met with swift and severe consequences.
