David Garcia, Meth Trafficking and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, California 2025

⏱ 2 min read

A ruthless Bakersfield meth kingpin just got slammed with 21 years in the joint. David Garcia, a documented ex-Sureño gang member with a 20-year crime history, was busted with 343.5 grams of meth, a stolen Glock, and more. He’s a convicted felon, so the gun charge was a no-brainer.

On Oct. 17, 2022, Bakersfield police pulled over Garcia’s SUV for traffic infractions. That’s when they found the meth, cocaine, digital scales, and sandwich bags. The firearm was later determined to have been swiped.

Garcia’s been a thorn in the side of law enforcement for two decades, and his latest haul was just the tip of the iceberg. He pleaded guilty on Feb. 24, 2025, to possessing meth with intent to distribute and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Bakersfield Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Drug Enforcement Administration were all part of the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas Karp handled the case.
