PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A grim chapter in Rhode Island’s battle against child exploitation unfolded as Jason D. Boudreau, a 47-year-old Woonsocket man with a history of sexual offenses against minors, was sentenced today to 235 months in federal prison for accessing and possessing child pornography.
Boudreau, previously convicted on state charges of molestation and child pornography, fell under the scrutiny of law enforcement again when they discovered he had accessed over 600 images and videos of child exploitation while under state probation. His crime spree reached a new low with the discovery of additional child pornographic material on another cell phone.
The court-authorized search of Boudreau’s residence led to the seizure of digital media storage devices, which contained graphic images depicting sexual acts involving infants and toddlers. The disturbing revelations came to light after authorities received an anonymous tip that a child pornography video was uploaded from his home.
US District Court Chief Judge John J. McConnell Jr. handed down the severe sentence, ensuring Boudreau will serve more than十九 years behind bars before being subjected to lifetime federal supervised release. His residence, vehicle, workplace, and electronic devices are now subject to searches without reasonable suspicion, as per the court’s order.
Boudreau’s criminal history is marked by previous convictions for simple assault on an 11-year-old child, second-degree child molestation, and possession of child pornography. The added charge of felony risk of injury to a child in Connecticut further paints a picture of his predatory behavior towards minors.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise M. Barton handled the federal prosecution of Boudreau’s case, ensuring justice for the victims and the community alike.
