A former Southwest Georgia resident has been handed a 15-year prison sentence for his involvement in the methamphetamine trade.
Skeeter Eugene Weeks, 41, of Pelham, Georgia, admitted to possessing with the intent to distribute nearly one kilogram of methamphetamine.
Weeks was sentenced to serve 188 months in federal prison to be followed by four years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge C. Ashley Royal on April 23.
Weeks previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine on September 8, 2023, in a federal court in Macon, Georgia.
The defendant’s lengthy criminal history in Southwest Georgia includes convictions for burglary, harassing phone calls, manufacturing methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine.
Weeks was involved in a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement on September 12, 2021, after a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to pull him over for a traffic violation on I-75.
Weeks, who was driving a motorcycle, refused to stop and accelerated to speeds of over 90 mph, weaved between vehicles, and eventually crashed his motorcycle on Rumble Road.
He was taken into custody after attempting to jump the center median guardrail.
According to court documents, Weeks was found with a semi-automatic pistol in his cross-body bag and in his pockets, along with 993 grams of methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Peter D. Leary stated, ‘The defendant’s high-speed attempt to evade capture endangered himself, responding law enforcement, and other drivers.’ He added, ‘Individuals with lengthy criminal histories who continue to disregard the law will be held accountable.’
Criminal Chief Leah McEwen is prosecuting the case.
The case was investigated by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Weeks’ 15-year prison sentence is a stern reminder that those involved in the methamphetamine trade will face severe consequences.
