A 19-year-old Guatemalan national, Jacob Eduardo US-REAL, landed a brutal blow to a federal officer’s jaw on January 14, 2026, in Metairie, Louisiana. The officer, a member of the ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations team, had been conducting targeted enforcement operations in the area to catch removable aliens.
US-REAL, who had been previously ordered removed from the US in 2017, was stopped alongside two other males in a red Nissan Rogue on Veterans Memorial Boulevard. The officer, identified as M.O.V. in the indictment, noticed that the vehicle’s registered owner was a Guatemalan citizen with a history of immigration violations.
As the stop unfolded, the officer attempted to apprehend US-REAL, but he fled on foot. The chase ended with a physical altercation between US-REAL and the officer. The officer suffered a jaw injury during the scuffle.
US-REAL eventually pleaded guilty to assaulting the federal officer and was sentenced to 5 months in prison. He will be deported once he serves his sentence.
