⏱ 2 min read

A 30-year-old Crittenden, Kentucky man, Robert Luke Divine, was caught in a sting operation on January 15, 2025, at a hotel where he intended to have sex with a woman and her 14-year-old daughter. Divine showed up at the hotel with the intention of engaging in sexual activity with the minor, and when arrested, he admitted to the crime and possessed child pornography on his cell phone. The investigation, conducted by the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, found a trove of child sexual abuse material on Divine’s electronic devices.

Divine’s devices, including an Apple iPad, contained 335 videos and thousands of images of child sexual abuse material, including files that depicted bestiality and minors under the age of 12. He also traded child sexual abuse material with another person via Telegram in December 2024. Under federal law, Divine must serve 85 percent of his 235-month prison sentence.

Upon his release from prison, Divine will be under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for 20 years. The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.

The investigation and prosecution of Divine’s case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation. The sentence handed down to Divine reflects the severity of his crimes and the need to hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
