Noe Francisco Maradiaga-Miranda, a 34-year-old Honduran citizen, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance for falsely representing a social security number in order to get a job.

The court documents state that Maradiaga-Miranda falsely represented that Social Security Number XXX-XX-5102 was assigned to him by the Commissioner of Social Security to obtain employment when in truth and in fact it was not. This occurred from on or about April 30, 2012, until on or about September 15, 2015.

Maradiaga-Miranda will serve 8 months in prison followed by one year of supervised release. Following completion of his sentence, he will be surrendered to the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite praised the work of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Emily K. Greenfield was in charge of the prosecution.

This case highlights the importance of protecting sensitive personal information, such as social security numbers. It’s crucial for individuals to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will handle the removal proceedings after Maradiaga-Miranda completes his prison sentence. This marks another victory in the fight against social security fraud and identity theft.
